FDNY real-estate hunt.

News and map:

Upon hearing the news, the first thing I thought was: thanks Bloomberg for opening up all this prime real estate! If I were really rich, which one of these would I want to live in? My top choices (advance apologies to Queens and the Bronx):

Ladder 8, 14 North Moore St., Manhattan. Location, location, celebrity, location. Should I choose the one in TriBeCa that was used as the Ghostbusters fire station? Even in my dream world, this one seems implausible due to price:

Engine 220, 530 11th St., Brooklyn. Maybe I should go with the taller one in the middle of prime residential Park Slope? There’s not great train coverage (Ghost and Fuck trains), but cover that roof with solar panels and you can ride out the upcoming earthquacopalyspe:

Ladder 104, 161 S. 2nd St., Brooklyn. Imagine being the Rat King of rats, or the Arnold of extra-marital affairs. That’s what I imagine living in a fire station in the middle of Williamsburg would feel like. And this isn’t on the north end of the ‘burg, but slightly off-campus. Just far enough off the beaten path to convince second-year art students that I’ve been there since the 80s while serving them PBRs in my Viking-equipped kitchen. Because that’s how I roll, plebeian-style.

Engine 205, 74 Middagh St., Brooklyn. My last choice on this list. It’s just a little too dumpy. But maybe dream-Andres mediates his ostentatious fire engine living lifestyle by choosing to live in the only station that is probably less expensive than the surrounding condos:
